The one with all the dark. Streatham SW16
Streatham Project - The home of Bethell Projects!
The house had been unoccupied for over 2 years and needed a full “back to the bricks” renovation programme. The garden was a jungle and the basement was a grim, low-ceilinged bunker.
We stripped out most of the ceilings, internal walls and floors. A full re-wire and re-plumb was followed by new plaster, walls in the right places (for us) and re-positioning the bathrooms and the kitchen. The freedom of having a blank canvas was balanced by having rather too much choice, so our architect helped us hone our choices down to the final plan. We dug down the basement to give a similar ceiling height to the rest of the house, which was well worth the money and effort and now houses a spare bedroom suite, back kitchen, utility, loo and games room.
We loved the staircase and the original internal arches front and back, so these were preserved. The original coving, architraves, picture rails etc. were mostly missing or badly damaged, so we replaced them with the help of our team of professionals.
The house now feels like the warm, inviting home it deserves to be, great for entertaining and with plenty of space for teenagers and adults alike.
